Winter Patrol 2025/2026
Summary of Patrol #5
This patrol was completed over the first two weeks in January.
9 – Courtesy emails sent during this patrol (1 – Sump Pump continuously discharging water outside / 1 – Fallen Tree in backyard – no damage / 2 – Broken windows / 5 – Minor issues).
3 – Courtesy calls (1 – Sump Pump continuously discharging water outside / 2 – Minor issues).
2 – Text messages sent (1 – Cottage Door open / 1 – External light fixture hanging from electrical wires).
1 – Special requests from homeowners (1 – Township blocked driveway with snow).
There were no incidents to report.
Weather conditions seen at time of patrol
There were considerable weather warnings issued during the patrol time (and more since). Bruce County winter was and is in full swing.
- Yellow Warning – Snow Squall issued Jan 1-2 – Snow Squall, Snowfall amounts of 15 to 35 cm.
- Yellow Warning – Freezing Rain issued Jan 5-6 – Freezing Rain is expected Tuesday (Jan 6) with 1 to 5 mm of accretion or build up possible (may be mix with snow or ice pellets at times.
- Special Weather Statement – Strong Winds issued Jan 9 – Strong winds with gusts of 70 to 90 km. Showers and risk of thunderstorms will push into the region with strong wind gusts near 70 to 80 km/h. A passing cold front may also lead to to another wave of strong wind gust of 80 to 90 km/hr.
- Yellow Watch – Snow Squall issued Jan 10-11 – Snow Squall possible Sunday (Jan 11), Snowfall accumulations up to 10 cm with northwesterly wind gusts of 70 km/hr.
- Yellow Watch – Snow Squall issued Jan 13-15 – Lake effect snow expected, snow amounts of 15 to 30 cm expected with locally high amounts possible. Northweasterly wind gusts of 50 to 60 km/h expected by WEdnesday (Jan 14).

It should be noted that for every incident, the patrollers identify the issue as best they can, take pictures, contact the owners, and, if requested, sends photos to the owners. All of the information is kept/saved both by the patroller and by the Association.
